Interstate Roofing Co., Inc. began in 1930 as a subsidiary of building materials dealer, Tucker-Kirby Company. Original principals, W. F. Tucker and R. S. Kirby started the business at 1620 West Palmer Street in Charlotte, North Carolina. The original name was Interstate Roofing and Asphalt Company and the primary business was reroofing houses and paving driveways. It was so successful that a few years later it split off from the parent company and incorporated as Interstate Roofing Company, Inc.
W. F. Tucker, Jr. took control of the company in 1950 and built it into the company that it is today. In 1964, it moved to the present location at 5616 Old Pineville Road, Charlotte. It went from 15 to 70 employees and from roofing house and paving driveways to doing major commercial roofing projects.
W. F. Tucker, III became president in 1988 and financial growth and efficiencies continued.
Today, David Jackson is President, Jeff Taylor and W. F. "Lin" Tucker, IV are Vice Presidents and Donna Jones is Corporate Secretary. The Company is strong in every facet and poised for unlimited growth.
William F. Tucker, III CEO
Bo Tucker began working at Interstate Roofing Company, Inc. while in high school in the early 1960's. He continued working there during holidays and summers through college. He graduated from St. Andrews Presbyterian College. He then joined the US Army in 1966 and received an Honorable Discharge as 1st Lieutenant in 1969.
Bo joined Interstate Roofing Company, Inc. full time in 1969 as a project manager responsible for roofing projects from sale to close out. In 1980, he was elected Vice President and continued project management and assumed some management responsibilities. In 1988, he was elected President and Treasurer and his project management gradually decreased in favor of full time management responsibilities. In 2007, he was elected Chairman of the Board of Directors. Currently, he oversees the entire operation of the Company while the other most capable members of the management and production teams do the day to day work.
David Jackson President
David Jackson was born in Charlotte, North Carolina and graduated from Providence Day School in 1978. He attended North Carolina State University in Raleigh and graduated in 1982 with a B.S. degree in Biological and Agricultural Engineering.
David came to Interstate Roofing Co., Inc. in October of 1982 as a project manager. The job consisted of estimating roofing projects and then managing them. Already a stockholder and director of the Company, he was elected Vice President in 1992 and continued estimating and managing projects ranging in size from less than twenty-five thousand to over a million dollars. In 2007 David was elected President.
Today David manages the overall operations of the Company and does some occasional project management.
Jeff Taylor Vice President
Jeff graduated from high school in 1991 in Georgia and then attended Western Carolina University in Cullowhee, North Carolina. He graduated in 1995 with a B.S. degree in Business Management.
Jeff came to Interstate Roofing Company, Inc. in March of 1998 as a project manager. He was hired to estimate jobs, secure and maintain customers and then manage all aspects of his roofing projects. He became a stockholder in 2002. In 2007 he was elected Vice President of the Company. Jeff has an in depth knowledge of many types of roofing products and systems including: EPDM, TPO, PVC, built-up, modified bitumen and elastometric coatings. He has also managed projects that include steel deck replacement and lightweight insulating concrete.
William F. Tucker, IV Vice President
William F. Tucker, IV (Lin) was born in Charlotte and graduated from East Mecklenburg H.S. in 1991. He went on to attend East Carolina University in Greenville, NC. He graduated in 1998 with a B.S. degree in Industrial Technology / Construction Management.
Lin came to Interstate Roofing Company, Inc. in 2000 as a project manager. His job consisted of estimating roofing projects and then managing the projects from start to finish. Lin has experience with the following types of roof systems: built-up, EPDM, PVC and modified bitumen. He also participated in a superintendent role at the Duke Energy's Catawba Nuclear Station acting as a badged liason between the plant operations and our project. In 2007 Lin was elected Vice President of the Company.
Donna B. Jones Corporate Secretary
Donna began at Interstate Roofing Company, Inc. in April 1983 as an administrative assistant. Donna is originally from Laurinburg, North Carolina and she graduated from Scotland High School. Donna came to Charlotte and graduated from King's College Accounting Program in 1977. She had previous experience in Payroll and Personnel. Donna became a company stockholder in 1986.
Donna was promoted to Corporate Secretary in 2004. She is responsible for overall office management, including negotiations of benefits for our company employees, bookkeeping, bank account management and accounts receivable. Donna processes bids, contractors' AIA billings and is a notary.
Carrie McGarry Administrative Assistant
Carrie is our newest office team member, she began in September 2008. Carrie is originally from California, however has been in the area for 14 years. Carrie brings experience in many areas, including accounting and management etc.
Carrie is responsible for all aspects of payroll and labor job cost system. She handles human resources and other issues with our work force. Her duties include account managment of fleet credit cards and all company Nextel radios/phones, as well as other general office work including receptionist, etc. Carrie is also a Notary.
